Lets face it none of us actually need more stuff in the west, we’re pretty comfortable from a material standpoint any way. Wanting is a bottomless pit, and sadly stuff is at best is a fleeting happiness. When I try to find what is true and intrinsically of value in all this want it’s the desire to have a home, and for this home to be a place of nourishment so we are fortified to give more to our world.
Beauty is perhaps the most sustainable element there is, for we treasure it and want to protect it. There’s an intrinsic delight and value in creating beauty, or rather tapping into the natural harmonies, this can be truly uplifting and wonderful, to build something that lasts using precious resources in a contentious, respectful and responsible way. To build something delightful that works really well. To rise to the design challenge and ask what does this intrinsically want to be and be carried to a place of harmony and inspiration, that’s great and what I love about this work. And like this home that I help you realize this business becomes a place of refuge supporting everyone who works with us to give more to our world.
Perma culture which is a delightful design principle that's applicable to anything. Very worthwhile to apply to one’s business, economics and especially the raising of children. For me it starts with the question of what does this thing want to be... and it's not really that groovy it's more about tapping into the natural flow... path of least resistance whatever way you frame it as long as it in a multiple bottom line sense not just about the profit we've seen where that's gotten us.
More and more we are seeing that multiple bottom line thinking is actually the best thing you can do for the traditional bottom line, that having a social conscience is good business it makes more money. (Multiple bottom line meaning taking into consideration, social environmental and economic factors when assessing the impact of a company.)
I digress, back to perma culture... springing from the question of what does this want to be... comes, what relationships need to be cultivated to nurture this along. Now I invite you to imagine how amazing the development of the little piece of land could be if you start from these questions... and how amazing anything could be if it grows from this type of intention, how it might fit into raising a child... I hope you'll play with it in the field your in and see where it takes you. One of the films I want to make is about how socially responsible business can and is healing the world. When people see that they can make money doing the right thing its all gonna turn around and it’s already happening. People want to do business with ethical companies and business needs to catch up.
We’ve always done it this way at Moneca Kaiser Design Build, my name is on everything we do. My word is my pledge. (Brando said that better in a film, that wasn’t so great and I still loved, I miss Brando the line is, The freshman was the name of it I think.) I have always taken business very personally and from the first day I have simply wanted to do business nicely.
My vision is for Moneca Kaiser Design Build to evolve into something much bigger than just me. Something that truly reflects the sum, the exponential sum of all these brilliants parts, into a company that continues to tap into universal harmonies and model what having it all looks like in the best sense. Meaningful work in harmony with our values that supports our people who work with us, our clients and our planet.
We’re growing with you and ask for your continued support and referrals, there are so many people who long for work that is meaningful to them and in harmony with their values, and you can help create this. In turn we will we will create with you that elusive place of refuge and delight we call home.
As we grow we will be exploring traditional and cutting edge alternative models of ownership and structure letting Moneca Kaiser Design Build evolve into what it wants to be, what our world wants it to be… MKDB.
Lets see what we can create together! We remain at your service.
Sincerely,
Moneca Kaiser
